COMMENTS and SUGGESTIONS ?

WINDHOEK, Namibia

In Windhoek, we stayed at Hotel-Pension Handke, a busy but pleasant Bed and Breakfast managed by amiable Amanda, pictured below.
Windhoek is the capital of Namibia and is built on a series of scenic hills some 1600 m high. It maintains much of its German colonial charm but looks very modern with its wide avenues named after African Statesmen. Languages are Afrikaans, German and English, and streetnames may end with "Straat". "Strasse" or "Street".
We spent a lively evening on the town with the O'Neils, fellow guests from the UK, who also introduced us to the nearby Daan Viljoen Game Park.
The inner city was virtually deserted during he weekend and at night, but tantalized us with some pleasant outdoor restaurants and cafes during the day.
